Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) is planning to operate its mobile services in Delhi and Mumbai in partnership with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on a revenue-sharing basis.
The state-run operator is mulling this move because it currently has a low market share in mobile services and is not in a position to make large capital investments. MTNL’s mobile subscriber base stood at 3.62 million as of January 2016, accounting for just 0.36 per cent on the total market share.
