Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) expanded its mobile phone customer base in Krishna Telecom District by 88,251 in 2015-16, taking the grand total to 5,73,650. There was an increase in the data usage from 283 Terabytes (TB) to 567 TB, said KTD General Manager V. Sundar.
Addressing media persons here on Saturday, Mr. Sundar said 3G speed increased to 21.6 Mbps during the year.
Fifteen more 23G sites would be added this month and another 46 by June – end. He said free incoming roaming facility was introduced in the year.
Mr. Sundar said there were 27 base transceiver stations (BTS-mobile phone towers) along the river Krishna and three temporary BTS were planned at Pushkar Nagars / bus stands. Seven new BTS were planned to be set up in the city.
BSNL KTD Deputy General Managers K. Sarath Babu, T.V. Prasad, K. Ram Prasad and M.V. Rao and AGM K.V. Krishna Rao were present.
