Kupwara: The BSNL subscribers in Kupwara complained of poor services by with frequent technical snags evoking strong resentment here. Residents said that technical problems with BSNL network has left them troubled. A local BSNL official admitted that due to technical
snags and poor maintenance by its engineering staff the subscribers have to face frequent problems. In Qalamabad area of Handwara, and its adjourning areas the subscribers complained that the BSNL services often break down due to which they are unable to communicate with the people.

“Whether it is the cellular service or the broad band internet connectivity poor signal and slow speed gives us a tough time,” said a subscriber. “The company has a large customer base in Kupwara district and is getting cores of rupees as rent yet its service is not satisfactory,” added another customer. “We are facing immense problems due to frequent call drops and poor network and connectivity,” they added.
“The subscribers have raised the issue with the BSNL authorities several times, but they failed to improve the services in the area,” said Mohsin Nab.
At Warnow, Kuligam, Khurhama, Divar and Wavoora areas of Lolab, the technical problems with the network have been troubling its subscribers quite often. Many customers could not make calls to stay in touch with their relatives.
BSNL consumers have been regularly complaining about call drops, poor connectivity, technical snags in the network. Javaid Ahmad Mir of Kuligam Lolab complained, "I have often faced problems of call drops and poor network in BSNL mobile. This was very embarrassing for me.
Troubled customers have also complained that when they tried to contact the call centre of BSNL the number was not accessible. Despite repeated attempts, the Divisional Engineer BSNL could not be contacted.
However, a senior BSNL official said that the issue of technical snag remains a constant complaint of the people.
